Q. How thick is Arma-Coat?
A. Arma-Coat is 1 mil thick when dry, and can be applied to rifle bolts and other moving parts with no hindrance to operation. 

Q. How do I apply Arma-Coat?
A. Arma-Coat can be applied by any air assisted system; this includes any air brush, HVLP or Automotive type spray gun. Arma-Coat cannot be applied by brush or roller. (Please see instructions for detailed info) 

Q. Do I bake Arma-Coat?
A. Arma-Coat is designed to be air curable at ambient temperature for 21 days. Baking can be used to speed up the curing process of the firearm. Baking is most helpful when applying camouflage finishes so that they can dry quicker in between coats. Arma-Coat can be baked for 200ºF for an hour to reach full strength. With the ability to air cure, you can refinish optics, wood, and plastics without warping or damaging them. (Please see instructions for detailed info) 

Q. Is there a strength difference between air cure and high temperature bake?
A. No. A high temperature bake only speeds up the cure time, so you can reassemble the firearm in a shorter period of time. An air cure for 21 days will have the same strength as a high temperature bake of 200ºF for an hour.   Arma-Coat can also be baked at lower temperatures for longer periods of time.

Q. How durable is Arma-Coat?
A. Arma-Coat is a life long firearm finish, giving you the extreme to rust and corrosion protection. 

Q. Can I remove Arma-Coat if I make mistakes?
A. Arma-Coat can be removed only by sandblasting once it is cured. If you made mistakes and wish to refinish an object, you have a 6-8 hour window to remove Arma-Coat by submersing or wiping down in lacquer thinner, Acetone, or Methyl Ethyl Ketone. 

Q. Can Arma-Coat ever be removed once it is cured?
A. Arma-Coat can be removed by blasting with aluminum oxide at 130psi and higher pressure. 

Q. How do I prep firearm?
A. First disassemble firearm, degrease all components to be coated, and then sandblast any surfaces which are smooth to the touch (i.e. bluing and smooth plastic). Arma-Coat needs a porous finish to be applied to. Parkerized finishes are excellent primers for Arma-Coat products. Firearms do not need to be parkerized before applying but is recommended as it gives the firearm a second layer of rust protection. Once metal, plastic, or wood part is roughed up and cleaned, you are ready to apply Arma-Coat.(Please see instructions for detailed info)

Q. Can I use sandpaper to rough the metal instead of sandblast it?A. No, sandpaper does not have the same effect as aluminum oxide does, and does not leave a smooth porous finish. Also, if sandpaper is used, it will leave behind scratch marks which will be visible when Arma-Coat dries. Remember, Arma-Coat is extremely thin and will pick up any surface profile imperfections. 

Q. Can I apply Arma-Coat to all metal, synthetic, and wood parts?
A. Arma-Coat can be applied to any wood, metal or synthetic material, giving you the option of coating your entire firearm in a complete camouflage or solid color finish.      (Please see instructions for detailed info) 

Q. How much will a bottle cover?

  • 4oz bottle will finish between 2 rifles and 4 pistols
  • 8oz bottle will finish between 4 rifles and 8 pistols
  • 16oz bottle will finish between 8 rifles and 16 pistols
  • 32oz bottle will finish between 16 rifles and 32 pistols
  • 128oz can, will refinish 64 rifles and 128 pistols
